To ensure that the warranty on your Thermeau heat pump remains valid, it is important that you take all the necessary precautions, especially when it comes to winterizing the heat pump used to heat your pool or spa.
COP (Coefficient Of Performance) is the coefficient of performance designating the energy efficiency of an appliance, mainly used for heating and air-conditioning systems such as heat pumps.
The COP compares the useful energy supplied by the unit (heat or cool) to the electrical energy it consumes to operate. The higher the COP, the better the unit’s efficiency.
To find out if your heat pump is condensing or leaking water, turn it off for 24 hours, leaving the pool motor (pump) running.
- If no more water runs out after 24 hours, your heat pump is condensing normally.
- If water is still leaking after 24 hours, your heat pump has a water leak. Simply contact us to request service.

The hot gas defrosting system used in the Prestige heat pump defrost your heat pump in a record time of just 2 minutes, compared with a conventional pool heater’s average 180-minute defrosting time. When the heat pump evaporator starts to frost colder temperatures, the heat pump’s operating cycle reverses to circulate a hot gas. This hot gas quickly defrosts the evaporator, allowing the heat pump to restart. This way, you can benefit from a steady water temperature all year round.
In colder weather, our Signature heat pump’s air defrost technology automatically activates when ice is detected. The process uses ambient air to defrost the evaporator, allowing the heating to resume.
The main differences between the Prestige and Signature models are as follows:
- The defrosting system: a hot gas defrosting system for the Prestige model and an air defrosting system for the Signature model.
- The cooling system: an intelligent system that cools the water to the optimum temperature for the Prestige* model.
- Appearance: the Prestige model is black on the front and beige on the sides, while the Signature model is beige on the front and black on the sides.
- Warranty period: 5 years on labor and parts for the Prestige model, and for the Signature model, it’s 2 years on labor and 7 years on parts.
* Cooling system not available for Prestige TH140B.
Cleaning the evaporator is essential to maintain the heat pump’s performance.
To do this, use a garden hose to clean the evaporator of any dirt. However, be careful not to use a jet of water that is too strong or you may damage the fins on the evaporator!
Yes, it is possible to control your Thermeau heat pump using your smartphone. Our pool heaters are compatible with the majority of remote controllers on the market. Ask your pool store for advice on choosing your remote controller.
